My first day in Czechia was everything I could have asked for! It started off slowly because it was raining. My host father, Bohdan, was gone, picking up my host sister, Barbora, from the airport. She had been on a trip to Denmark. My host mother, Dita, and host brother, Borek, and I played a matching game. The cards had the English and Czech versions of animals and sports on different cards, and it helped me learn a little bit of Czech! I also got to meet their cat, Bobina. When the rain stopped we took my host family's dog, Bernard, on a walk. It rained a little bit more while we were walking, but it was warm, so we didn't mind.
After our walk, we took the car into the city of Frydek-Mistek, and Dita showed me around. I got to see Frydek Square, and we had ice cream there! She showed me where my school is as well. Then we came home and I got to meet Barbora, who had just come back from a trip to Denmark.
By that time it was night, and all of us except for Barbora went to a Festival that Frydek-Mistek has once a year. We arrived just in time for a concert by one of the most famous Czech singers, Ewa Farna. It was amazing! It was such a cool experience being around everyone speaking Czech and hearing the music. Even though I didn't know what it meant, I could still enjoy and partially understand the music. It was so much fun. After the concert was over there were a couple of other shows, and then Borek and I got some fries, and we went home. We were all tired from standing for so long at the concert, but it was worth it. It had started to storm again, but it wasn't too loud, so I was able to sleep fine. I fell asleep quickly, as I was so tired from the day!
Love being able to follow your journey in this way! Praying for you!
